Magnificent Courtier in Green Robes
A magnificent female courtier from the Ming Dynasty -1368-1644 AD – in excellent condition. At 61 cm tall, this prominent figure is wearing a traditional hanfu in green & black with an enamel finish, and a pleated red skirt as lower part of Ao’qun – a popular design for the epoch. It is standing on a rectangular double plinth in red, green and yellow hues, and the unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white with finely detailed facial features. The head is detachable, as often seen on the larger figures from this period. The figure holds a red fan on her right hand. Condition: Excellent, finely preserved glaze and pigment, undamaged and no repairs. Ex. Danish Collection.
