Butterfly shaped, cast pendant with symmetrically opposed false filigree roundels each centered by applied beads. A similar one is illustrated in “The Gold of Dorado” by Warwick Bray (1978:pl.276). Made by the lost wax casting technique, and extremely sophisticated method. This a large example of the winged butterfly motif, signifying spiritual flight for shamans. Beautiful old Gold Color and Patina with Green Copper Encrustations from adjacent pieces in the burial, with traces of textile cloth, giving the Best Clues for Authenticity. Very difficult to find pieces this size.
