Product Description

Buff colored pottery figure, standing with left hand held to waist belt, and right held aloft grasping a small zoomorphic hand mask. Wearing a long jupe or cueitl (faldellín) tied at the waist with a banded belt, short blouse with cotton tassels and chalchihuitl (jade) short single necklace.The head with pierced, ovular mouth and recessed mouth bearing applique teardrops or small snakes, decorated with black bitumen pigment. Head reattached, both arms at shoulder and a repaired break across the waist. Restoration to the fingers of the left hand. Provenance: Private Canadian Collection.
