Impressive size, hollow pottery seated female figure with hands held in a forward position. Elongated head wearing a wide band headdress, ear ornaments and a single petal necklace. Gray-tan surface with painted red-orange highlights. Jalisco, Mexico. Preclassical Period, 100 BC-250 AD. Both legs reattached with restoration over the breaklines, otherwise intact, overall exc. cond. Provenance: Ex. Sothebys, NYC, lot 142, 11/18/1987. Ex. Tenbrook collection, NM.
